Research Protocol Submission

Thank you for your interest in promoting your study with PRISMS.

The PRISMS Professional Advisory Board (PAB) has developed a policy regarding posting research studies/opportunities on this website (www.prisms.org) and through PRISMS social media. The policy requires completion of the following form and submission of documents for review and approval by at least two PAB members and one PRISMS Board member and/or parent representative. This is to ensure that the study has been reviewed by an institutional review board (IRB) so as to ensure protection of human subjects and offers a strong likelihood of expanding knowledge about SMS to the benefit of persons and families impacted by SMS. In most cases the review is a quick process.

Additional criterion for preparing your research protocol submission:

  • IRB approval or exemption documentation provided
  • Study purpose and procedures clearly described
  • Research team and institutional affiliation identified
  • Participant risks appear minimal and appropriately addressed
  • Data privacy/confidentiality procedures described
  • Recruitment expectations for PRISMS are clearly stated

Please be aware that by promoting your study with us, you are committing to keep PRISMS updated on study progress. PRISMS representatives may approach you for updates on study progress. In particular, we expect to be informed of any publications that result from research involving patients with Smith-Magenis Syndrome.

If you have any questions about the submission process, contact us at info@prisms.org.
